Sun King Market District Stage

|| June 22, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indianapolis City Market is excited to unveil some much needed updates on its west plaza. The Sun King Market District Stage, located on City Market’s Whistler Plaza will be completed and re-dedicated on Wednesday, June 24th at 10 a.m. This project was made possible through the hard work and support of Sun King Brewery, F.A. Wilhelm Construction, and The NEW Group, Inc.

“Wilhelm is excited to be a part of the revitalization of the City Market in the Heart of Indianapolis. We hope this small contribution supports the Market and artists in our community for years to come,” says Lynn Busby, Business Development Manager at Wilhelm.

The stage has hosted a number of Indiana’s notable musical acts such as the Dick Dickinson Trio, the Hampton Sisters, and Jennie DeVoe as well as mayoral press conferences and peaceful protests. The stage features a wide variety of musical guests every Wednesday, May through October, for the Original Farmers’ Market as well.

“We are really looking forward to the variety of acts and programs the Sun King Market District Stage will bring. Future programming will include something for everyone including families, the craft beer community, and beyond,” says Chelsea Marburger, Director of Civic Engagement for the Indianapolis City Market.

The Sun King Market District Stage is located alongside the Tomlinson Tap Room “Beer Plaza” which serves the best of Indiana’s craft brews Wednesday through Saturday. Sun King Brewing Company’s Co-Founder Clay Robinson was happy to assist City Market in the revamping of this downtown destination.

”Helping revitalize the City Market District Stage is another great opportunity to give back and we hope that this project will help bring people together and build a greater sense of community," says Robinson.

The public is welcome to join the Indianapolis City Market and its valued partners for a Grand Opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 24th at 10:00am. Local, “IndySoul” musician and songwriter Bashiri Asad will be the first act to perform on the Sun King Market District Stage.
