Become a Market Merchant

Thank you for inquiring about opportunities for business ownership at the Indianapolis City Market, Indy's historic public market, in continuous operation since 1886. The Indianapolis City Market has an exciting and prosperous future ahead as the neighborhood around us continues to develop into one of the most vibrant and dynamic areas in Indianapolis.

Our objective is to keep the Market close to its traditional function in the community: as the source of the freshest foods and agricultural products and a gathering place for local residents and visitors to central Indiana. We are currently accepting business applications, and our primary interest is the addition of fresh, artisan foods and food-related businesses.

The Indianapolis City Market is an exciting and dynamic place to own and operate your own business. The Market has a rich history of being an incubator of small, owner-operated businesses. We take great pride in the tradition that allows shoppers the opportunity to do business face-to-face with the business owners. We expect any business operating in the ICM will be "owner operated," meaning the principal owner will be the principal operator.

Generally, the Market seeks a reasonable level of competition in the sale of non-prepared foods (e.g. produce, meats, fish, groceries, etc). The Market reserves the right to determine whether sufficient competition or demand exists within any category or with any product.
